Annual Winter Shipping Pause

Why We Pause Shipping Outside Florida During the Winter

As the weather cools down, it is time for our annual reminder about shipping season changes. From November 15th through March 31st, LunaRoaches will pause all live roach shipments outside of Florida.

We know this may be disappointing for our amazing out-of-state customers, but this seasonal pause is the best way to keep our Discoid roaches safe, healthy, and alive during transit.

Cold Weather and Live Bugs Do Not Mix

When the temperatures start dropping, shipping live insects becomes risky business. Even with insulated packaging and heat packs, once the weather gets too cold, there is no reliable way to guarantee their survival during transport.

Roaches may be hardy little critters, but freezing temperatures and long delivery routes are not their friends. We would rather delay shipping than risk sending out cold, lifeless boxes. This is not just about protecting our inventory. It is about treating our colonies with the same care and respect that we put into raising them.

What This Means for Orders

  • Florida customers: You are good to go! We will continue shipping statewide all winter long.

  • Out-of-state customers: Orders placed between November 15th and March 31st will be held or refunded, depending on your preference.

  • Subscriptions: If you have an active subscription outside Florida, we will automatically pause it until shipping resumes in spring. However, if you would still like to receive your order during the winter months, please contact us. In some cases, we may be able to ship with a heat pack for an additional cost. These shipments must be held for pickup at your local post office to help keep your roaches safe from cold temperatures while in transit.

  • University partnerships: We will continue to honor all existing educational and research agreements that are currently in place. Shipments to partnered universities will continue as scheduled until those agreements expire.

If you want to stay updated when shipping reopens, make sure you are on our email list or follow us on social media. We always post an announcement when it is warm enough for our roaches to travel safely again.

Why We Do It

Every roach that leaves our farm was raised with care, clean food, and healthy conditions. We do not want to undo that hard work by sending them into freezing conditions that could harm them.

We take pride in knowing that when a box from LunaRoaches arrives at your door, the colony inside is thriving and ready to grow. This seasonal pause is one of the ways we protect both our bugs and your investment.

What You Can Do in the Meantime

  • Stock up early: If you are outside Florida, order before November 15th to be set for winter.

  • Follow us online: We post updates, care tips, and plenty of homestead chaos all winter long.

  • Subscribe for spring: Subscribers always get first dibs when shipping resumes, so you will be first in line once the weather warms up.

Looking Ahead

We will resume normal shipping outside of Florida as soon as it is safe, typically by April 1st. Until then, we will be focusing on growing colonies, expanding our breeding capacity, and keeping everything cozy on the homestead.

We appreciate your understanding, your patience, and your continued support. The safety of our roaches and the quality of your order always come first.

Stay warm, stay subscribed, and we will see you in the spring!

Cheers,

Mel & Chris
