We're launching full-on research into shipping before summer is over! Yesterday we've spent some time researching single-use temperature data loggers and found a USB option for it.
What is it?
They look like a USB stick but bigger and capture temperatures during shipping for a determined amount of time. The ones we're looking to purchase are 30 day data loggers.
Why are we doing this?
Honestly? We're tired of USPS's excuse about their rather less than perfect service lately and what to have hard knock data on how we can improve our Roaches as well as your shipping experience, thus giving our bugs the best chance of survival.
How would we do this?
We would choose 3 people from three different sections of Florida that we ship to on the regular.
They would receive 2 boxes of roaches of our choosing shipped to them via USPS and UPS.
Each box would contain: The roaches, a data logger, a pre-labeled envelope to ship the data logger back to us.
Once the data logger arrives, they would need to send the data logger back to us within 5 days. They would get to keep the roaches of course.
You would fill out a quick questionnaire online about how the roaches arrived, what the box looked like, whether it was sitting outside or was handed to you, etc.
Once we receive the data loggers back, we plug them into our laptop and analyze the temperatures the Roaches endured during travel and see who fared better during travel.
Is it worth it?
We don't know to be honest and they are by now means cheap, but it would give us some data, which is better than the zero data we have now. Since Florida stays this hot for a while longer we have a little more time to figure this all out but we're highly interested in doing this for our own piece of mind.

If you're willing to participate, can COMMIT to sending these back to us within 5 days (i.e. Drop them off to be sent back to us at the post office within 5 days) and can fill out the questionnaire we'll create for this please mail us here
It's imperative that you send these back to us, otherwise our research will be for nothing!
We'll pick three people from the submissions based on their location and on their Customer status (i.e. we will pick from the repeat Customer pool first to reward their loyalty with us!)
