2020 Reflections

Merry Christmas everyone!

It's Christmas Eve, Chris is still sleeping for a bit longer and I am sitting here, scrolling through my Facebook feed and catching up on my family and friends around the world. I revel in the excitement of their children over the anticipation of presents that will be opened tomorrow morning, checking on last-minute Christmas gifts that are delayed by USPS, and overall am relaxing before the madness at our own home will begin shortly with a cooking frenzy. I am writing down last-minute chores so I won't forget everything because let's face it, I have the memory span of a Teaspoon anymore and checking our inbox to assure we answered any outstanding emails.

2020 has been a very trying year. We had personal issues beyond our control that prompted us to buy our new home and move our business out into the country, and if you ever bought a home, you know that's a horribly stressful process to go through, but we managed. We've all dealt with Covid-19 and we all know at least one person that contracted the virus. I have more than one Auto-immune disease that compromises my immune system so I am particularly nervous about this one, but we managed. We've been dealing with the absolute shipping mess that is USPS, but we managed. As parents, we've dealt with Remote learning in all of its challenges, but again, we adapted and managed and I am amazed at what the human mind and body can deal with and still not lose its sanity.

But for us, it was offset by all of the good things that happened this year too. With the help of each and every one of you, we've grown our business by 400% this year. We adapted our Business practices to Covid, implemented subscriptions, a new rewards system, and were finally able to offer pickup for your orders if you wanted to do so. We've tested different shipping methods this summer, and changed what we could to accommodate those challenges and above everything, we've met THE NICEST PEOPLE!! To all of those that came out this year to see us, we loved meeting each and every one of you! It's a joy and a pleasure to see you grow your Discoid Colonies, to see you take pleasure and interest in the insects and find as we do, that they are amazing little bugs and we hope we get to meet even more of you in 2021! I saw more and more of my friends open small businesses that include everything from artistic stuff to cookie baking, I noticed people discover new passions and began to find themselves and tackle seemingly insurmountable challenges, but above all... I saw the Human spirit! This may not be the Christmas experience we've all asked for, but this is the Christmas experience that we got and I hope you all have your own ways of making it special for you this year.

As we head into our third year of Luna Roaches, we hope you'll stick with us. We value each and every one of you and appreciate that your feedback and encouragement turned us into a better business and made us better people. The love and loyalty that comes our way from all of you mean the world to us.

With eternal gratitude, we want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
