We hope you had a fantastic New Year! We stayed home, gamed, watched TV, and enjoyed our downtime. Since we're Homesteaders, there's not really ever downtime, but we did have the time to plan out our year. We ordered a dozen dual-purpose breed chicks, did some planting, and looked at our state of affairs here at Luna Roaches. We planned how we wanted Luna Roaches to evolve and brainstormed a bit.
The "not a recession" recession also hit us hard this year. Prices on everything have drastically increased, and inflation has been horrible for everyone, including us. Chris and I thought long and hard about how to offset this and have come to the decision that the only way for us to survive as a small business right now is to get rid of free shipping. We will lower our Prices by a few dollars to make this less of an impact on you because we know... you too suffer through this mess along with us. Sadly, these are tough choices we have to make to make it. Our Shipping cost is astronomical every year, and we're simply no longer in a position where the free shipping business model is still viable for us as much as we want it to be.
Starting February 1, 2024, the following changes will go into effect:
Free shipping will be removed, and there is now a flat shipping and handling fee of $7.50 - This will cover the cost of Priority Mail Shipping.
For non-subscription orders: All bug prices will be dropped by $2.50
For subscription orders: Prices will remain as they are, but Shipping will remain free for subscription Orders.
For no Roach orders, i.e., just Food and water Crystals, we will lower the shipping and handling from $7.95 to $7.50 as well.
We thought about this long and hard and really hate having to make these changes but in the current economy, there is no other viable way for us to survive as a small business long-term, so we have to adapt. We are also thinking about additional things we can offer, so if you have any ideas of what you would like to see, please let us know, and we'll take that into consideration.
We know that this is not the news anyone wants to hear, and it's certainly not the news we want to give you. Since we refuse to lower the standards and quality that you've come to expect from us, this is the simplest solution. This allows us to adjust, adapt, and forge forward with the same love and care that we've put into our Business from Day 1. We still have exciting ideas and plans for Luna Roaches, and we will be sticking around for a long time! This is just a small bump in the road for us.
Please know that we're only here because, without our customers, there would be no Luna Roaches. We love our Bugs, we appreciate that you trust us to feed your loved companions, and we're fully committed and dedicated to giving you the best Insects we can possibly produce and this is just a part of what it takes to ensure that this never changes.
